Frank's Verse By F. E. Smith Contents

ONE LAST TIME

My angling friend the Doctor who shares my passion
Tells me that my heart is on the way out
And may soon pack it all in
Through too much over work.
Still,
I’ve time for one last cast.
So. I’m here on the river by the loch
For who knows maybe the last time
To tease the trout with fly
To stand to dream, to taste the air
Still,
I’ve time for one last cast.
High winds have chased away the clouds
Everything seems so much more intense these days
The grass is greener, the water purer,
The trees they are taller.
Still,
I've time for one last cast.

Too many years have passed me by
Time itself is dying
Or so it seems
In now the autumn of my years.
Still,
I've time for one last cast.

The sun it's out at last
Warming my ancient bones
Sitting here wondering if this will be my last
Was the sky ever that blue.
Still,
I've time for one last cast.
